 BANGALORE, India – The MSC Indian Union was founded in 1985 in Bangalore by an Australian MSC, P. Malcolm Paul Fyfe. Now there are twenty five priests and seventy five brothers. The Indian Union Superior, P. Joseph Christy, MSC along with the other Indian MSC confreres celebrated the Silver Jubilee on August 21, thanking God for the gift of the Missionaries from Australia and Indonesia, and the benefactors, friends and relatives. There was a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Vicar General, P. Narciso Abellana, MSC and concelebrated by the Second Assistant General, P. Wahyudi Franciscus Xaverius, MSC, the members of APIA and the other MSC confreres. Thereafter the brothers presented a creative cultural programme followed by a festive meal shared by all. In view of this special occasion P. Dennis Murphy, MSC has compiled the following article on the history of the MSC Indian Union.

Cameroon - On May 1st, 2010, Feast of Saint Joseph, our confrere, Jonas Hassan Mouchi was ordained Priest by Bishop Philllipe Stevens of the Diocese of Marroua Mokolo. A second bishop, Barthelemy Yaouda and many priests, religious and lay people from different places attended the Celebration. Fr. Gabriel Naikoua, Superior of the Disctrict of Cameroun guided the MSC delegation in this very special celebration. Fr. Jonas is the first Priest from his village and tribe (Padoko) being ordained Priest.

YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon - On May 29, 2010, Feast of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the District of Cameroon together with the Chevalier Family celebrated our common Feast in a special way. The Celebration was held at the house of the superior of the District of Cameron. There were more than 200 people present: parents of the candidates, friends, FDNSC, the Lay of the Chevalier Family, religious from different congregations and all the MSC living in Yaoundé. During the celebration which lasted for three hours, Brother Fernand Mahoungou professed his Final Vows, while Vital Ifukia, Teddy Mounck, Godefroid Bokumbe, Charles Biloa and Césaire Souissa renewed their vows for a period of two years and were also admitted to the ministry of acolytes. The development of the UAF is noticeable through the young MSC who pursue the way to spread the Congregation in all directions. The liturgical celebration conclude with the Novena of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. After the liturgical celebration, a festive meal was shared by those who were there. Download Images
