Aston is certainly a Change from Countryside
ASTON, England - Aston is certainly a change from countryside.  Sitting on the northern rim of the inner city, it is a densely-packed neighbourhood of mainly small, two-bedroomed Victorian terraced houses.  Apart from the park there is very little greenery – no grass verges, no front gardens and very few trees.  The population of 27,000 is very diverse, with 50% Asian (predominantly Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim), 20% Black (mainly Afro-Caribbean with some refugees from the African continent) and about 23% White (English, Irish and new migrants).  It is the second most deprived neighbourhood in Birmingham.  About 23% of the population are unemployed and 88% of residents fall in the Nation’s top 10% of people living with multiple deprivations.
