MSC cater to the Spiritual Needs of the Catholics in Pyatigorsk and Kislovodsk, Russia |
PYATIGORSK
and KISLOVODSK, Russia
– Father Stephen Rogers MSC paid a casual visit to the General House on
August 30 in Rome, Italy. The other three who came along with Fr. Steve
were sisters from the Missionarie Clarisse del Santissimo Sacramento:
Sr. Catalina Cendejas, Sr. Patricia Nolasco and Sr. Martha Medina who work in Russia. Fr.
Steve is an Irish missionary working also in Russia from 1995. He is
one of the three pioneers of the Russian Mission launched by the Irish
MSC. The other two among them are: Father Michael Screene MSC and
Father Con Doherty MSC. Two other MSC along with Fr. Steve and Fr. Con
are: Fr. Pavol Baroš from Slovakia and Fr. Tomasz Poterala from Poland:
both from the South German Austrian Province. Their main
ministry
apart from ecumenical collaboration with the Orthodox Church is to
cater to the spiritual needs of the Catholics living mainly in Pyatigorsk
and Kislovodsk. It is a challenging mission and an enriching
one as well. All appreciate and encourage this MSC presence in Russia.
