The General Conference: Eighth Day, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009
YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon - In the morning session Father General presented a document on “Preparation for the 2011 General Chapter”. This document mentioned date and place, some possibilities of theme, timetable, moderators, liturgy coordinator, extra delegates to the General Chapter, discernment process for elections during the Chapter and possible members for virtual Commissions. It was presented at the beginning of this week in order that the participants have time to reflect and contribute some ideas for further discussion. The General Administration hopes that the General Conference give some input, especially with regard to the theme of the General Chapter.

Then Father Luis Carlos Moraes, the Secretary General, presented his report. It brought up some comments, for example, Website, Statistics, Parvum Calendarium, Analecta Album Societatis, Curriculum Vitae and last but not least gratitude for the work the Secretary General has done. The report of the Secretary General was followed by Father F.X. Wahyudi who presented proposed changes to the Handbook for Provincials. There were some questions for more information and clarification on this document. This Handbook should be translated into two other languages, namely French and Spanish. When the General Conference talked about a new Postulator, Father General mentioned some names, but there was no final decision about who will be appointed as a new Postulator.

In the afternoon session, Father General presented a draft of a letter for all members of Congregation, entitled Authority and Obedience in our MSC Tradition. A Letter to the Congregation. The power point presentation about this theme was interesting. Some comments and additional suggestions concerning this theme followed this presentation. The suggestions of the participants enriched and made more complete the theme of obedience.
