Stages of MSC Formation

1. Vocational Promotion – A candidate who is willing to join the congregation should contact the Vocation Director of his region. Vocation Director also makes efforts to contact the right candidate.

2. Postulancy – The candidate who has been accepted to join the congregation has to follow one year program of postulancy. It is a probation period for the candidate to live with the MSC

3. Pre-novitiate – The candidate is formed to get an insight of what it means for him to be an MSC, experiences community life and is also involved in Pastoral initiatives.

4. Integration formation – Once the candidate accepts the MSC way of life is admitted into novitiate and is given an opportunity to focus human, spiritual, intellectual, pastoral and community life.
4.1. Novitiate – The candidate is accompanied by his master to live the gospel/msc values in ministry setting. There is time for ministry/reflection/review/personal integration. At the end of his novitiate professes his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
    4.2.  Two Years of Philosopy
4.3. Three Years of Biblical Studies

5. Final Vows – The candidate discerns and makes the key movement in his life and seeks specifically to focus on the issue of confirmation of the response of the call of the Lord expressed in his first vows. He confirms his lived experience spiritually in his final vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

6. Diaconate and Priesthood – Prior to commencing the diaconate and priesthood the msc professed student will have been instituted into the order of Acolyte and Lector according to the rites of the Church. The diaconate and priesthood programme of preparation for ordination as a deacon consists of two parts: an examination of the theology of the diaconal ministry in terms of its foundation in scripture and tradition, its practices in the life of the Church, and the theology of ministry on which the diaconate is based. Secondly he is introduced to the use of the Rituals. At the end of his diaconate ministry he is ordained a priest.

7. On-going formation – Throughout his entire life he is to continue carefully his own spiritual, doctrinal and practical formation, and superior will provide him the resources and time to do this.

"We should not be surprised at our imperfections as religious. An oak tree requires many years to reach perfection. It is already a big thing that we are conscious of what we lack. With time we shall arrive. I regard it as a great blessing that our way is traced out for us and that we know the road we must follow."
