By profession of the religious vows, we proclaim that the driving force in our lives as Missionaries of the Sacred Heart is our belief in the love that God has shown us in the Heart of Christ. Our religious profession expresses, above all, our desire to seek God and to respond to his love because he has first loved us.

1. Vow of Chastity
By professing celibacy, we consecrate ourselves to God in order to love him with a free and undivided heart, and to love our brothers and sisters as Jesus did. By this vow, we bind ourselves, for the sake of the Kingdom, to forgo marriage and to observe perfect chastity. Our consecrated celibacy is a commitment to grow in emotional maturity towards the perfection of love found in the Heart of Christ.

2. Vow of Obedience
Jesus became obedient out of love; he even gave his life to accomplish his father’s will. We profess obedience to share in his spirit of obedience, that we may serve better our brothers and share more deeply in the mission of our Society and the Church. By professing obedience, we commit ourselves to seek and accept the will of God in the life and mission of the congregation.

3. Vow of Poverty
Jesus lived in total dependence on his Father, putting himself completely into his hands. He calls us to live in the same way in union with him by choosing evangelical poverty in answer to his call. Since he identified himself with the poor, we want to detach ourselved from created things so as to be poor like him and with him. By professing poverty, we determine to put ourselves and our material possessions completely at the service of God and his Kingdom as Jesus did.
