Fr. Sabio Named New Apostolic Prefect of Marshall Islands
VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI names Fr. Raymundo Sabio, MSC, as the Apostolic Prefect of the Marshall Islands.  This Micronesian island nation has a total population of  50,874 of which 4,601 are Catholics.  The faithful  are under the care of  7 priests,  14 religious and a number of permanent deacons. Fr. Sabio succeeds Fr. James C. Gould, S.J., whose resignation from the Apostolic Prefect the Holy Father has accepted. Fr. Sabio is a Filipino missionary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He has worked as a missionary for many years in South Korea before coming to the Republic of Marshall Islands..
